Asia Minor – ANATOLIA has not been the raising point, but both 3 major monotheist faiths – Christianity, Judaism and Islam – growned, spreaded and walked from this land throughout the centuries. The faithfuls of these religions sometimes tried to destroy each other, but mostly they have peacfully co-existed and lived side by side for centuries. That’s why, Turkey is visited by thousands of religious pilgrims from all corners of the world every year as there are countless and extremely important sites in here for all of them.
The highlight of the journey: Ephesus. Ephesus is one of the biggest and richest excavation areas of the world. The excavations continue for over 100 years. We’ll visit the ancient city with the agoras, library, temples, Odeon, bath, houses, and theatre.
Jewish history in this land, basically starts in 1492 during the Ottoman Empire strongest era, with unpleasant and unforgettable deportation from Spain. Actually the first Jewish life and settlements date back in Byzantine time, when this particular Galata area.
The mystic Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi founded a Sufi Order known as the Whirling Dervishes. The striking green tiled mausoleum of Mevlana is Konya’s the most famous building. Attached to the mausoleum the former dervish seminary serves now as a museum.
